English new wave/ alternative band formed in 1976 and dissolved in 2005 (aka The Dukes of Stratosphear in the mid to late 1980s).
Key albums include Drums and Wires (with the hit Making Plans For Nigel), Black Sea, English Settlement, Skylarking and Apple Venus Vol 1. The band's last album was Wasp Star in 2000.
The line-up through the years included Andy Partridge, Colin Moulding, Terry Chambers, Dave Gregory, Barry Andrews and a series of different drummers after Chambers' departure in 1983.
