Gong
Gong are a psychedelic/ space rock band formed in the late 60s.
Over the years, the band line-up has included Daevid Allen, Tim Blake, Didier Malherbe, Pip Pyle, Gilli Smyth, Steve Hillage, Francis Moze, Mike Howlett and Pierre Moerlen.
As of 2014 and the passing of founder member Daevid Allen, the band features Fabio Golfetti (guitar), Dave Sturt (bass), Ian East (sax/ flute), Kavus Torabi (guitar/ vocals) and Cheb Nettles (drums).
Their key work includes an ongoing mythology regarding the make-believe world Planet Gong. This initially involved a trilogy (Radio Gnome) featuring the albums 'Flying Teapot', 'Angel's Egg' and 'You'. Further chapters have been recorded including 'Shapeshifter' and '2032'.
