Californian country-rock band formed in 1969 by the late Lowell George plus Bill Payne and Roy Estrada.
Current lineup: Bill Payne - vocals, keyboards, Paul Barrere - vocals, guitar, slide guitar, Fred Tackett - guitar, mandolin, trumpet, vocals, Kenny Gradney - bass, Gabe Ford - drums and Sam Clayton - congas, vocals.
Key albums are: "Dixie Chicken" (1973), "Feats Don't Fail Me Now" (1974) and "Time Loves A Hero" (1977).
They issued their 16th album "Rooster Rag" in 2012.
