Award-winning, multi-platinum and influential hip-hop outfit formed in 1982 and featuring Chuck D, Flava Flav, DJ Lord, Professor Griff and the S1Ws.

The band helped give hip-hop and the Def Jam label an identity crossing over to the mainstream with the best-selling 'It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold us Back' in 1988, as well as a stream of rock-rap crossovers such as "Bring The Noise", "Public Enemy #1", "Yo Gonna Git Yours", "Black Steel", "Shut Em Down", "Fight The Power", "Rebel Without A Pause" and "Can't Truss It".
