Mailian-born kora-virtuoso and collaborator with many African and global musicians alike. He formed the cross-cultural outfit Songhai with the flamenco group Ketama and jazz-bassist Danny Thompson in 1988.

Other collaborators include Taj Mahal, Ali Farka Toure and Ballake Sissoko.
