[1940 - 2010] Solomon Burke was an influential American Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter - dubbed "The king of Rock'nSoul".
He began his adult life as a preacher, but signed to Atlantic Records in the 60s, moving to secular music. Solomon was inducted into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
