EP Review

A new band from Cornwall introduce their self- titled EP, Crowns.

Now this is proper sea shanty, folk based drinking sing along music of a decent quality. Its got a bit of a Waterboys and Levellers feel good and rapid rambling rabble, very much the way I like it. Im thinking The Pogues.. in style, fun and energy.

Its got some real finger plucking, accordion juggling, fiddle playing, and bodrum pounding tunes. We have six tracks that certainly appeal to a beer festival kind of crowd. Its music to sing along to and drink, happy days.

The two opening tracks are certain to be favourites, Full Swing is correctly named and a real good starter to get us in the mood. Kissing Gates has been on Zane Lowes play list for sure, I've definately heard this on national radio.

I particularly like Bodmin Town, which could well be right off The Pogues early album Red Roses for Me. Its a classic in waiting. And like all good sing alongs, we end with a raucous theme, She Swears Like a Sailor - good and proper.

I can imagine a live gig would be fun and worth a sore head for! They are currently on the road supporting the punk outfit Sharks.
