You Got Me - Taking Back Sunday Single Review

Single Review

Taking Back Sunday were a staple sound to my uni years along with Yellowcard, Something Corporate and New Found Glory. Many a time I turned to Adam Lazzara's emotional vocals for comfort during episodes of study stress and love troubles.

Almost a decade later the Long Islanders have provided me with a catalogue of anthems that I continue to throw on my iPod and within their self-titled fifth studio album, released in June this year, there are a handful of terrific tracks to enjoy from the screaming insanity of El Paso right through to the gentile unassuming melody of Call Me In The Morning.

As a single You Got Me, taken from their latest release, is frantically fierce. It was produced by Eric Valentine (QOTSA, Lostprophets) who helmed 2006s Louder Now (Kerrang!s Album of the Year) and reunites Adam, Eddie Reyes (guitar) and Mark OConnell (drums) with former band mates John Nolan (guitar/vocals) and Shaun Cooper (bass) who left after the release of their 2002 debut Tell All Your Friends. The track is passionate with a roaring riff and the lyrics are how I feel about the band having supported me through my 20s. Since exploding onto the scene, almost 10 years later Taking Back Sunday still continue to devastatingly rock.
