Together We Were Made - The Feeling Album Review

Album Review

English popsters The Feeling return with their third studio record, Together We Were Made. I wouldnt have said I was a fan of the band, but after catching their set at In:Demand Live in Glasgow earlier in the month I clearly knew the choruses to several of their tracks (Fill My Little World and Love It When You Call especially).

Showcasing new material my curiosity was captured as their sound departed from that which scored them a #2 in the UK Albums Chart with 2006s Twelve Stops And Home. Performing album opener and lead single Set My World On Fire, I couldnt help but sway along to the easy on the ears beat with its calypso/Caribbean vibe. Yes, you read that right calypso/Caribbean.

Working alongside The Freemasons the production on this album is still pop but less bubblegum. Longstanding admirers should continue to show appreciation as the tracks Say No and Love And Care are the new vibrant Never Be Lonely and Sewn. Potential fans, on the other hand, may find themselves intrigued to listen with the exclusive appearance of Risn Murphy and Sophie Ellis-Bextor on Dance For The Lights and Leave Me Out Of It respectively. Married to The Feelings bassist Richard Jones, Im glad Ellis-Bextor waited to feature on a track until now as Leave Me Out Of It is a cracker. Reminiscent of an 80s disco ballad, the slow synth and smooth alternating vocals with lead singer Dan Gillespie Sells has Chart hit written all over it. Admittedly, I really liked Together We Were Made. I found it a charming listen, good for throwing back and relaxing.
