Soul UK - Beverley Knight Album Review

Album Review

British singer-songwriter Beverley Knight is just pure unadulterated silk. She looks fabulous, sounds even better and has continuously delivered top class melodies since exploding onto the scene in the mid 90s.

Released via her own label, Hurricane Records, Soul UK is a collection of covers handpicked, curated and performed by Knight in ode to her own favourite tracks. Produced by Grammy award-winning Martin Terefe (Jason Mraz, James Morrison) and Future Cut (Lily Allen, Beyonc), Knight has been nicely guided to add her distinctive flavour onto this sweet selection of sounds. From Jamiroquais When You Gonna Learn and George Michaels One More Try to Heatwaves Always And Forever and Soul II Souls Fairplay which has a nice intro from Jazzie B himself this seventh studio album is a beauty.

Fans of the original songs should get a kick out of the re-workings, whilst new listeners will find themselves falling hard for the divine Ms Knight. As lead single, Mama Used To Say is a sexy little number and hits even harder than the Junior classic. Those that have never turned to Soul as a genre should definitely check this out.
