Getting a hit single for someone like Thea Gilmore is nigh on impossible these days when you look at the state of the UK singles chart. It really is a sad state of affairs.
Gilmore has been knocking on the door of being a household name for many years and her previous single Youre The Radio went a step forward in that direction.
Teach Me To Be Bad , lifted from her album Murphys Heart, shows that Gilmore isnt pre-occupied with a pure hit mentality, and as troubadour-like she is, this beefy track with bolstering brass layers and reverbed guitar will probably not make the upper echelons of the singles chart, which is a shame.
That said, because its already B-listed on BBC Radio 2 it might prove more of a hook for the casual listener to delve into buying the album.
As good as this song is, it hasn't quite got the right ingredients for a hit.
