New summer anthem. Looks like it.
Manchester six-pack The Travelling Band have certainly stirred up some interest.
Glasto organizer Michael Eavis is raving about them. He recently enthused, The Travelling Band take me back to my musical roots. Marvellous music to savour, and enjoy."
Brief early indications suggest an Oriental flavour, but is soon dismissed when the band strikes-up rustic chord slabs, violin scratches and twinkling banjo, hinting at, maybe, The Levellers, but the singer lilts (a bit) like Chris Martin (Coldplay). With harmonies that memorably resonate, it could be the new summer anthem, especially if Eavis gets them at Glasto 2010 !
