Single Review

Senadee is the pseudonym of Sena Verdi, an Iranian born singer, writer and musician that has worked on much collaboration across genres throughout his career but is only now releasing his own debut single My Fault; a beautiful, dreamy, electronic track.

Over a bed of well-produced electronic accompaniment, spacey, heavily reverberated guitar and synth parts cushion Senadees lush, Jimi Goodwin/Guy Garvey-esque vocals; My Fault is a happy, chilled amalgamation of pop, dance, electronic and indie influences with a superbly catchy chorus. His lyrics are bare, honest and apologetic (Its all my fault Im sorry, I just wanted to make you proud of me) and his vocal tone correspondingly emotional, varying from a gentle whisper to a stronger higher range, over a luscious, gradually building, powerful synth and string accompaniment.

Senadee has previously featured on heavily dance influenced tracks, such as Today by Ben Gold which was championed by the likes of Judge Jules and Dave Pearce and, as a result, spent six weeks on the Radio One dance chart; in fact, My Fault, sampled on the dance track Say The Words has already received Radio One airplay. Suggestions of his solo back-catalogue on his myspace page, however, blend the dance influence with an acoustic indie feel; combining real band instruments with studio produced dance grooves. My Fault exemplifies this fusion of influences; Senadee combines elements of bands such as Doves, Coldplay, Aqualung et al., raw, honest singer-songwriters in the vein of Tom McRae and Imogen Heap and the dance vibes of his collaborative back catalogue, to prove himself as not just another dance vocalist lost in the ether, but a musician in his own right. A solid debut.
