Album Review

Yawn.

Gaawwwwwwd, not another Ibiza compilation I hear you say! Crammed and packed full of cheesy Eurodance a la Cascada and DJ Unoriginal fear not, clubbers and party bums alike! This one is differentno, really, it is!

Ibiza, although not collecting prizes for originality with its name or its sunset cover imagery, is a spot-on 3-CD set that is brimming with modern classics and dancefloor anthems. Perhaps not the most obvious choice when picking out albums from the record store wall, the tracks are expertly-picked and ordered well, although Ultimate Clubbing Experience is probably a bit misleading. Its more of the Ultimate Dance Number Ones. Think clubland lite.

Reliving those summers is easy done when you skip to Chicanes classic Saltwater. Ooh, I feel about seventeen again! Its cheese-on-a-stick but is sure bound to jog some memories of good times. Dont be expecting any Steve Lawler or anything a bit more high-brow, this is unmixed strictly commercial dance, but makes for a great collection.

Go out and buy it its perfect for dancing around your room, or to keep as a party staple. One surprising thing is that there are not that many dodgy tracks: almost every single song is a floorfiller that youre not going to be able to deny that you love.

Perhaps Mousse-Ts Horny and Michael Grays The Weekend are a bit too obvious, and LMC Vs U2s Take Me To The Clouds Above is a bit embarassing but the iconic piano of Paul Van Dyks For An Angel, and Three Drives Greece 2000 have resounded anywhere from student unions to the nightclubs and bars of the party island itself. Thankfully theres no Girls Aloud remixes in earshot.

A must-have dance-fromagefest for a must-experience time of your life, and great value for money.
