Live Review

Hailing from Bristol, New Rhodes have joined the mass movement of new indie bands to the music market but unlike some others, New Rhodes have the talent and catchy tunes to stick around longer than the one hit wonders that come and go. Their live set brought excitement and electricity to the crowd at 93 Feet East.

New Rhodes know how to get the crowd moving. With the opening to their set the audience immediately filled the venue with excited applause. They opened with Everybody Loves a Scene and continued through their set with their singles, "A&E", "You've given me something that I can't give back" and "I'll wait for you by the coast". As someone who had not previously known much about this band I almost felt a bit left out when the groups of young girls were singing and jumping along, and the guys nodding along approvingly. New Rhodes appear to already have a strong, if small, fan base which will no doubt grow if more people give their live shows a look in.

Lead singer James Williams looks every part the front man, and sang every song impeccably, not once going out of tune. Drummer, Tim Desmond is a pro at holding a strong beat through all their songs. In my research I hear that the band have previously had 3 different drummers but it is clear that 4 is their lucky number as the drums were my favourite aspect of their live set.

The band put a great live set on. They play extremely well live obviously evidence of long practice sessions but it has paid off.

It really was a pleasure experiencing New Rhodes live in a somewhat small, more intimate venue. It is only a matter of time before they will be playing larger venues, so I think people will agree when I say catching them at 93 Feet East had a great atmosphere for their gig.
