Inhale/Exhale - Random Hand Album Review

Album Review

Random Hand, a 4-piece from in Keighley, West Yorkshire formed in 2002, are a breath of fresh air from the indie-electro filled sounds bouncing off the cool kids at the moment.

Their second album to date, Inhale/Exhale, is a collection of triumphant ska/metal mash-up. It is indeed difficult to place in a style, putting Random Hand in a league of their own.

I Human, the opening track, is a fast-paced, upbeat yet agressive ska fusion and Random Hand start as they mean to go on, although one is not sure whether to skank or headbangor to try both. Wonder what that would look like.

Further on in the album, Anger Management begins as a seemingly chilled-out track on 'Inhale/Exhale', with catchy 'ooo's and 'ohhh's throughout, finally bursting into thrashing drums and riffs as the end approaches.

Inhale/Exhale is difficult to frame in a specific genre, making Random Hand difficult to compare to other bands, not that thats a bad thing. They possess varied musical influences and talents, as well as an ability to switch from ska to punk in a nanosecond, all mixed up with deep, bellowy vocals.

Random Hand are currently touring with Reel Big Fish and are ferociously making their way around the UK on what is to be a Random action-packed year of gigs and festivals, after having recently supported Voodoo Glow Skulls.
