Very distinctive sounding US nu-soul singer who came to prominence with the song "On and On" in 1996 as well as a series of jazz and hip-hop fused albums such as "Baduizm", "Mama's Gun", "Worldwide Underground", "New Amerykah Part One" and "New Amerykah Part Two".

She also has acting credits in the films "The Cider House Rules" and "Yo Gabba Gabba".
