Not About Heroes

Not About Heroes is a play written by late British actor, director and dramatist Stephen MacDonald.

My subject is War, and the pity of War. The Poetry is in the pity. Wilfred Owen, 1918

"It was Owen's meeting of Sassoon that helped develop him into the voice of a lost generation and Not About Heroes, through its sensitive study of their conversations, letters and Sassoon's memoirs helps us to understand the impact these two great men had on each other.

Written by Stephen MacDonald in the early 1980's and rarely performed since it's production at the National Theatre in 1986, Not About Heroes is a beautifully realised piece exploring the relationship of the great war poets, Siegfried Sassoon and Wilfred Owen during the final year of World War 1."

For 2018, Flying Bridge Theatre Company, which has recently enjoyed its New York debut, partners with Wilton's Associate Artists and Olivier Award winners Seabright Productions to present this enduringly powerful love letter to poetry and the strength of the human spirit.
