The Merry Wives Of Windsor

Comedy written by William Shakespeare in the early 17th century and also adapted for opera by Otto Nicolai.

The play concerns Sir John Falstaff, down on his luck and living in the 16th century in Windsor. He attempts to marry into money via two (two already married) wealthy women (the merry wives).

Falstaff was immortalised in a seperate opera by Giuseppe Verdi.
