Stage play written by English screenwriter and playwright, Mike Leigh.

The play came to prominence in 1977 with the TV/stage production starring Alison Steadman and Tim Stern.

The plot centres on Beverley and Laurence who hold a drinks party for their new neighbours, Angela and Tony and friend Susan (mother of the mysterious and never seen Abigail who is holding a teenage party simultaneously next door).

The play was seen as something of a social landmark in the 70s.

The 2019 tour edition stars Jodie Prenger.
