Joe Bataan

Joe Bataan is an American Latin/ Soul musician and singer from New York whose style initially blended doo-wop and latin boogaloo, spurning the hit "Gypsy Woman" (a cover of the Impressions). Joe helped coin the term "Salsoul" (later the name of a record label that he co-founded).

Albums include his 1967 debut "Gypsy Woman", plus "Subway Joe", "Riot!", (both 1968) "Poor Boy" (1969), "Singin' Some Soul" (1970), "Mr. New York & The East Side Kids" (1971), "Sweet Soul", "Saint Latin's Day Massacre" (both 1972), "Salsoul" (1973), "Afro-Filipino" (1975), "Mestizo" (1980), "II" (1981), "Last Album, Last Song" (1997), "Call My Name" (2004) and 2009's "King of Latin Soul".
