Award-winning and established English film, stage and TV actress who made her debut in the late '50s.

Her famous roles have included Hamlet's Ophelia, Romeo and Juliet's Juliet and Macbeth's Lady Macbeth, as well as numerous other stage productions.

Her more recent film-roles have included playing M in the James Bond franchise and Queen Victoria in Mrs Brown, while TV programmes include Cranford.
