Titus Andronicus [play]

..Rome is but a wilderness of tigers,
Tigers must prey and Rome affords no prey
But me and mine ...

Titus Andronicus is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare, believed to be his first such play, and possibly bloodiest. The themes of the play are: war, revenge, honour and rivalry. It is set just after the death of the Roman emperor, with the titular Titus - a renowned Roman general - being named as the successor much to the chagrin of the late emperor's sons Saturninus and Bassianus.
