London-based soul, funk and house DJ and producer, best known as being one of the founders of Soul II Soul (the other being Phillip 'Daddae' Harvey). The pair started out as 'Jah Rico' when they were just 13, renaming to 'Soul II Soul' three years later.
Commercial success for Soul II Soul followed some years later in 1989, which saw the band collect two Grammys and Jazzie B being given the keys for seven US cities.
He was awarded an OBE in 2008.
