Shabaka Hutchings

London-born jazz clarinettist, raised in Birmingham (via Barbados) and becoming a member of the Birmingham Schools Symphony Orchestra, Midlands Youth Jazz Orchestra and the Walsall Jazz Orchestra.

Hutchings initially formed the Zed-U trio, before working with Courtney Pine and other modern jazz greats, going on to form the bands: Melt Yourself Down, The Heliocentrics, The Comet Is Coming, Sons of Kemet and Shabaka and the Ancestors.

In 2010 he was named a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist, enabling him to undertake various projects for broadcast on Radio 3.

Shabaka and the Ancestors released their debut album, "Wisdom of Elders" in 2016.
