Californian-based alt-punk band formed in 1980.

Key members include: Greg Graffin - vocals, Jay Bentley - bass, Brett Gurewitz - guitars, Greg Hetson - guitars, Brooks Wackerman - drums and Brian Baker - guitars.

Their early albums such as "How Could Hell Be Any Worse" and "Against The Grain" were released on the influential Epitaph label. Other key releases include "Stranger Than Fiction", "The Empire Strikes First" and "True North".
