"April, 1794. In the first years of the French Revolutionary War, secret societies like the Friends of the People are regarded by the Tory Government as treasonous. Just when the Sheriff of Lanark is coming to investigate Drumlie, the Provost of the Town finds rebels in his own home. Two strolling players come to his rescue. It was first presented in 1970 at the Edinburgh Festival by Edinburgh People's Theatre."
