American rock and soul guitarist, musician, songwriter and producer most famous as one half of the rock and soul duo Hall & Oates, alongside co-founder, lead vocalist and songwriter Daryl Hall.

Oates, primarily the band's guitarist, co-wrote some of Hall & Oates' biggest hits including 'She's Gone'', 'I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)' and 'Maneater'.
