Play by British playwright Shelagh Stephenson inspired by the painting 'An Experiment on a Bird in the Air Pump' by Joseph Wright.

It was first performed at the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester in 1998, and has since been staged by a number of other companies worldwide.
