West Woodhay Garden Show

"This Charity Garden Show is held in one of Berkshires finest gardens at West Woodhay House, just outside Newbury, which now only opens to the public once every two years for this event.

Over 25 Acres of the Beautiful Gardens & Lakes of West Woodhay House. - The Gardens at West Woodhay are the 'Jewel in the Crown' have been laid out in a downland setting around a beautiful Inigo Jones house. Within that setting there are some unique features - Waterways, Walled Garden, Arboretum and Rose Garden. Established in Victorian times, the Garden was further improved in the 1950s by Jim Russell and more recently by Veronica Mackinnon. The Gardens have been intensively planted up with acid and water loving plants and shrubs which include varieties of Acers, Rhododendrons, Azaleas and Hostas. Around the house itself, which sits in a beautiful parkland setting, there are smaller more formal gardens.

The event is running in aid of local charities, including ABF the Soldiers Charity, Newbury Spring Festival, Newbury Show, local churches, Rotary and other local charities."
