Jazz and pop-soul singer from Atlanta, active since the late 60s and originally called Jean Carn.

Her most-acclaimed work includes her debut self-titled 1977 album, recorded with MFSB and Instant Funk) and released on the landmark Philadelphia International label.

Her familiar songs include "Don't Let It Go To Your Head", "Free Love", "My Love Don't Come Easy", "Closer Than Close" and "Was That All It Was" (the latter featured on the soundtrack to the oscar-winning movie, "Precious").
