Peer Gynt

A play-in-verse written by Henrik Ibsen.

The play was written as a satirical comment on Norwegian life and features over 40 sets of characters in some productions, including trolls, slaves, a skipper and his crew.

Peer is left to his own devices after his father leaves them in huge debt. It appears that Peer is incapable of any tasks except perhaps boasting and bragging.

Edvard Grieg adapted ideas from Ibsen's work to compose his classical signature piece, also called "Peer Gynt"
