Blueflint

"Yearning ballads of love, loss and revenge nestle next to tales of suicide and untimely death. In Blueflint's songs is an unflinching retelling of the human condition, lightened by exquisite harmony singing and the deft beauty shaped by their instrumental work. With their CD 'High Bright Morning,' Blueflint delivers a haunting, singular statement.

Steeped in Americana, the group's music is part bluegrass, part folk. Based around the banjo duo of Deborah Arnott and Clare-Louise Neilson, Blueflint subtly intertwines the three-finger picking and clawhammer styles of banjo traditions to accompany striking vocals and harmonies on a set of original songs. Blueflint's unique sound is enhanced by contributions from a talented, versatile line-up including Roddy Neilson fiddle, Ian Stoddart drums, Joey Sanderson double bass (Hugh Kelly on tour) and production by noted composer Jim Sutherland (Aberfeldy; 'New Town' BBC)."
