Saturday Night [musical]

"In 1954, the 24-year-old Stephen Sondheim wrote his first Broadway show - Saturday Night - a stylish musical which followed a group of friends in 1929 New York just before the Wall Street Crash.

Set to premiere on Broadway in 1955, the production was cancelled when producer Lemuel Ayers died, leaving this musical gem unperformed professionally until 1997."

The 2009 London performances by Primavera will include the UK premiere of two songs written by Sondheim when he revised Saturday Night in 1999: 'Montana Chem' and 'Delighted, I'm Sure'.
