Austrian jazz pianist and keyboardist who founded the landmark group Weather Report (with Wayne Shorter) and who debuted at Birdland in 1959. He passed away in 2007 with son Tony continuing his legacy with the Zawinul Syndicate.

Joe co-wrote many pieces for Miles Davis' "Bitches Brew" and others as well as introducing the world to the late, great bassist Jaco Pastorius.
