Covid-19 (Corona Virus) Update: 27th March 2020
Posted: 27th March 2020
West End Shows
As of 17th March, many UK venues including most of the large London theatres closed their doors in an attempt to help stem the spread of Covid-19.
These venues include (but are not limited to) the Society of London Theatre and UK Theatre group of venues, plus Leicester Square Theatre, Barbican, Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Hayward Gallery and the Purcell Room. They are all closed "for the foreseeable future".
Closure of Venues and Bars in the UK
On Monday, 23rd March, closure of all UK venues, bars and pubs has been ordered causing all events in (at least) the coming month-or-so to be cancelled/ postponed.
The vast majority of March, April and May gigs have either been cancelled or rescheduled to late summer, the end of the year or early next year.
There are still new tours being promoted, obviously toward the latter half of the year, with many late summer festivals provisionally still going ahead.
In the majority of cases you will be contacted by the ticket agent through whom you purchased tickets, notifying you of any postponement/ cancellation.
Many festivals, tours and other events have already had their dates changed and are now taking bookings, such as C2C: Country to Country, Ritual Union, Long Division Festival, Bearded Theory's Late Summer Gathering, This is Tomorrow Festival, Red Rooster and Teddy Rocks festivals, Shiiine On Weekender Cruise (dates TBA), the Royal Albert Hall's Teenage Cancer Trust series of events, Fish's tour (pushed back to 2021). London's All Points East 2020 edition has been cancelled. Dua Lipa and Harry Styles have rescheduled most of their dates.
See the Updates sidebar to the right for further updates - naturally we are doing our best to keep events updated and rescheduled but there's rather a lot to keep up with at present. Bear with us.
