For a band only formed ten years ago, a 'Best Of' normally signifies a severance in record-company contract, a recoup of lost revenue due to failed releases or a chance to big up an act that have surprisingly more hits than you might think. With McFly, however, there is more than a hint of reason number 3 about it, partly because the band are already planning a new studio album for later next year.

For 2012 however, it's all about the gigs (surely that should be trademarked), as well as the hits. "Memory Lane" is the title given to a double-CD package of huge smashes and rare tracks, including the first two demos the band ever recorded. Due for release today (26th November), the album contains all your favourite McFly anthems such as any one of the SEVEN #1 singles ("5 Colours In Her Hair", "Obviously", "Star Girl" etc), plus "One For The Radio", "Lies" and recent Top 10 banger "Love Is Easy".

McFly have already confirmed some arena shows for the end of this year, mainly multi-name line-ups for local radio station-branded affairs - Manchester's Key 103 Jingle Ball 2012, for example (almost sold out, £29.40), also Liverpool, Glasgow and Birmingham. But, if it's headlining shows you want, read on.

So far, McFly will perform shows during April and May including Birmingham, Newcastle, Cambridge, Bristol, Glasgow etc until Wembley Arena on 18th May 2013. Tickets are due to go on sale on 8th December 2012 at 9am.
