Acclaimed singer-songwriter heralds new EP with handful of May dates, on sale Friday 9th November
Benjamin Francis Leftwich

It's never been a better time to be a singer, songwriter and creator of easy-going, emotional and evocative songs, so it's hard to see how Benjamin Francis Leftwich has remained under the mainstream radar thus far.

After spending his formative years dosing himself up on Dylan, Drake and Adams (Ryan not Bryan), Leftwich's journey took him from his hometown of York to London and the hoohah which goes along with crafting an anticipated debut-album. "Last Smoke Before The Snowstorm" appeared in summer 2011 and the festival slots and tours came rolling in, with the album proudly sitting at #35. Not bad for a first attempt. But since 2011, the Sheerans and the Buggs have rocketed to stardom, while the reflective end of the market is still eddying gently in the background.

But 2013 could well be Leftwich's year - despite going through some harrowing family issues right now (his Facebook page details his father's cancer diagnosis, we wish him well), the singer has already outlined his first intentions for next year. And we haven't even mentioned his new EP out this year yet - "In The Open", an EP of new songs, is available from 19th November, much of which will appear on tour next year.

First confirmed shows begin with Glasgow on 20th May 2013 and continue to Newcastle, Birmingham and finally for now, London (the HMV Forum). Although these are decent-sized venues, chances are they'll sell out quickly when they go on sale from us at 9am Friday 9th November, priced at £12 - £15.
