Woah! Just when you thought Download couldn't get any more canny with its choice of bands, they go and call out the artillery. After confirming the herculean headliners Slipknot, Iron Maiden and Rammstein, the organizers have announced supports, not least the first coming of Queens of the Stone Age to Donington. They'll be making their debut appearance at the festival, as well as confirming their first UK appearance in 2013. With Dave Grohl currently working with them on their new album, the scope for guest appearances is, well, we'll leave you to concur on that one.

In addition to QOTSA, Download will also commence battle with 30 Seconds to Mars, their third visit to the festival, while The Gaslight Anthem, Alice in Chains, Motörhead, HIM and A Day To Remember will make appearances at some point throughout the 3-day bash.

That is some Top 10 in anybody's world and you'll be pleased and relieved to read that tickets are still available from us. 5-Day weekenders cost £195, while 3-dayers weigh in at £190 (both with camping) and, if you can't face your mate's sweaty pits and beer-tainted trollies for a week, grab an arena ticket for £165 and stay at a nearby boutique hotel with fluffy pillows (hotel, fluffy pillows and kiss goodnight, not included).

More bands will be announced in the coming weeks!
