Saint Etienne's place in British indie pop history has long been assured. Formed in 1990 by Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs, and named after a French football team, the band made their breakthrough with vocalist Moira Lambert singing the deliciously infectious Only Love Can Break Your Heart.

As enchanting as Moira and her beguiling vocals may have been, it wasn't long before Bob and Pete, and everyone else, fell in love with the bewitching Sarah Cracknell. Since then, Saint Etienne have straddled indie, dance and pop genres, delivering a clutch of memorable and incredibly catchy indie tunes that include You're in a Bad Way, I Was Born on Christmas Day (officially known as 'Xmas 93') and He's On the Phone, alongside the unbeatable, unbreakable and indispensable Only Love Can Break Your Heart.

Two decades on, Sarah Cracknell's voice is as mesmerising as ever and Saint Etienne continue to evolve and find new audiences. Into 2012, the trio have released their eight studio record, Words and Music by Saint Etienne. It made the UK top 30 and confirms the band as one of those few which gets to live its own legacy.

Saint Etienne kick off their tour in York on 10th December, followed by Edinburgh, Manchester and Brighton, before the final date at the Shepherds Bush Empire on 14th December 2012. We will have tickets available when they go on sale at 9am on Friday 24th August, priced from £16.50 (£22.50 for London).

As if that wasn't temptation enough, Green Gartside's wonderful (and mystifyingly underrated) Scritti Politti will be supporting on all dates. Hot tickets.
