Every now and then, some reassuring little titbit of news comes along that reminds us all that being in a band is just another job, albeit an exciting one with not one day-long training session with Janet from Business Improvement.
In the last week, Alabama-based metal outfit Iwrestledabearonce ('IWABO') were the latest to remind us that they're just everyday Joes, cracking out top-notch metalcore, when they announced lead singer Krysta Cameron would be taking some maternity leave while she and her fiancé await their baby (congratulations all). Unbowed, IWABO quickly drafted in their friend Courtney LaPlante to fill in for Cameron for the foreseeable future.
It is a typically assertive bit of recruitment from a band who have earned a reputation for just getting on with it and, most importantly, for never letting their fans down. With their second album, Ruining It For Everybody, issued in 2011 to wide acclaim, the line-up change came at a time when momentum was at its highest for IWABO, in the midst of the Vans Warped Tour. But momentum has a habit of carrying itself forward and, with LaPlante on vox, IWABO simply will not be stopped.
Before Krysta Cameron returns to announce that shehadababyonce, Courtney LaPlante will be fronting IWABO's European tour, the UK leg of which kicks off in Birmingham on 9th September, followed by dates in Newcastle, Leeds and more, and including a London show at the Garage in Highbury on 14th September 2012. We will have tickets available from 9am on Monday 16th July £10 for London and £9 for the other venues.
