Younger siblings can, it seems, be a troublesome breed. Some turn out to be bigger, stronger and faster than their elders. A few get the girl (or boy) their big brother (or sister) has been coveting. An even smaller number turn out to be international superstars of stage and screen. They're the worst.
Just ask Charlie Murphy. Not that it really seems to have held him back. A year or so older than Eddie, Charles Quinton Murphy shares his brother's knack for comedy and boasts an impressive CV, albeit not one to compare that favourably with young Eddie. Charlie first found fame as a cast member and writer for the Comedy Central sketch-comedy series Chappelle's Show, hosted by Dave Chappelle.
In addition, he's a veteran of a range of notable American comedy shows including Saturday Night Live and Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. Charlie Murphy has also appeared in a number of films including Norbit, alongside his brother. His popular stand-up recounts many tales of being Eddie Murphy's brother, not least the adventures of being part of Eddie's legendary entourage. Charlie is bring his Acid Trip show to the UK this autumn.
He'lll be playing two shows at the IndigO2 in Greenwich on 11th October (one at 7.30pm, a second at 10.30pm), followed by shows at the Manchester Apollo and finally Birmingham's Alexandra Theatre on 14th October 2012.
