Adversity can be a great motivator. English folk singer-songwriter Newton Faulkner had already won hearts and minds (and ears) with his creative approach and virtuoso musicianship before he shattered the bones in his hand after a fall on ice. It looked for a while as if his somewhat ironically titled 2007 debut Hand Built by Robots could be his first and last.
But Faulkner returned, complete with metal plates and numerous pins, and he went onto to record his second studio LP in 2009, aptly titled Rebuilt by Humans. The adventures of Newton Faulkner and his wrist continued with the sophomore record reaching No 3 in the UK. His third album, Write It On Your Skin, is out on 9th July preceded by the new single, Clouds, a week or so earlier.
Newton Faulkner heads out on his second UK tour of the year beginning at the Liquid Rooms in Edinburgh on 1st October, followed by shows in Inverness, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham and more, before the final date at the Shepherds Bush Empire on 22nd October 2012. We will have tickets available from 9am on Friday 25th May, priced £19 for London and £17.50 for all other venues.
Ahead of the autumn tour, Newton Faulkner completes his May dates in the next week (we have a handful of Standard and Premium tickets for Dundee and Glasgow) before a busy summer of festival appearances. In June, he is playing the FestiFeel 2012 event in London and then the Cornbury Festival 2012 in Oxfordshire. In August, Newton is appearing at V Festival 2012 on 18th and 19th August in Chelmsford and Staffordshire respectively. We have a selection of tickets available now for these festival slots.
