The continued resurgence of the music and motifs of the 1980s is owed in some part, we are told, to these straightened times we live in, awash with echoes of early-eighties Britain. Whether that's true or if we will always have a place in our hearts for the music of two or three decades ago is immaterial; what matters is that some of that era's best bands are touring again and it is not costing the earth to catch up with a bit of The Lexicon of Love or Human's lib.
Well, that all just got a little more tempting with news that ABC, Heaven 17, Howard Jones, Katrina Leskanich [Formerly of The Waves] and Dr and the Medics will be lining up at the Forum at the University of Hertfordshire later this month for another trip down memory lane.
The Ultimate 80s Festival takes place on Saturday 26th May 2012 from 3.30pm with Martin Fry's ABC will be topping a strong bill of eighties' pop which offers a bit of New Romanticism, a little synth-pop, some cheery soul and a dose of theatrical kitsch.
