Fun announce October 2012 UK and Ireland tour dates

Posted: 11 years ago
The indie-pop three-piece from NYC are continuing to tour their hit album Some Nights with a clutch of autumn shows - tickets on sale Friday 11th May

Formed from the ashes of The Format in 2008, Nate Ruess's indie power popsters saw their popularity explode when they teamed up with Janelle Monáe in 2011. The result, the single We Are Young, became the first so-called alt-rock track to top the main US Billboard countdown in three years, reached No 3 in the UK and went on to top the charts in Australia, Canada and Ireland. It was No 1 for six weeks in America.

The single was the first taken from Fun's second album, 2012's Some Nights, and it proved to be a game-changer for the New Yorkers - it was their sixth single and first to chart (and did so straight to No 1 in America), earned them a wide range of high profile TV slots and even got the Glee treatment. Some Nights was released in February 2012 and it too has done well, topping the US Alt and Rock charts and peaking at No 3 on the Billboard 200. The momentum is with Fun and it is bringing them here for a series of dates in October.

The autumn tour kicks off at the Shepherds Bush Empire on 2nd October, followed by shows in Birmingham, Dublin and Manchester, before the final gig announced so far at the ABC in Glasgow on 8th October 2012. We will have tickets available from 9am on Friday 11th May, priced from £12.50 for the UK shows and €17.35 for Ireland.

Ahead of the October dates, Fun are playing two London dates - at XOYO in Camden on 14th May and at Heaven on 9th July. The May show is sold out but we have some Premiums left for the July gig (Standard tickets have sold out).
