Everybody loves a family musical with a happy ending, especially one that teaches kids a worthy lesson with superb songs, lovable characters, a baddie to balance things out and a colourful set bright enough to make your senses whirl and your eyes pop out. For several decades, Frank Baum's perennial tale of a young farm-girl transported to a mythical land after being caught up in a tornado, has charmed generations of children and adults alike.
From book, to film and on to stage show, the songs remain the same, no matter who is in the director's seat. And what songs they are - Harold Arlen and E.Y.Harburg struck gold (or should that be yellow) with classics such as 'Over the Rainbow', 'If I Only Had a Brain/Heart/Nerve' and the classic 'Follow the Yellow Brick Road'. It seems fitting, therefore, that our most successful living musical composer and lyricist should create their own adaptation and release it to theatre.
Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, along with Jeremy Sams, haven't detracted from those original tunes by rewriting them, but instead have composed a few additional songs to compliment the story. The current production has been running at the London Palladium since 2011 and has seen back to back sell-outs. With choreography courtesy of Strictly's Arlene Phillips, it's hardly surprising that this energetic show has captured imaginations, young and old. The show is still booking until October 2012 and we have several cut-price offers to share with you!
The Special Offers include: Royal Circle seats priced at £39.99 instead of £65 (valid Tuesday to Friday evenings) and Restricted View stalls for £49.99 instead of £65 (valid Saturday and Sunday only).
