Spiritualized

From Spacemen 3 to Spiritualized, Jason Pierce has been at the forefront of chemically-enhanced and spaced-out rock, since the early '80s. Three decades and a major health scare later, Pierce is wiser and stronger for it, judging by the still-zonked stoner psychedelia present on recent single, 'Hey Jane'. Complete with its gritty and controversial gender-crossing video, the song contains the title of their new album 'Sweet Heart, Sweet Light'.

The Top 20 full-length album is their sixth studio set and is Spiritualized in cruise-control, a far cry from the blessed-out druggy sounds of the 1992 debut, 'Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space'. After a string of acclaimed albums, Pierce's health took a turn for the worse - technically, he died twice while fighting a serious bout of pneumonia. This rather mortifying event inspired the band's most recent and archly-titled, 'Songs In A&E'.

Having fully recuperated, though not without the occasional wobble and rescheduled dates, Jason Pierce's Spiritualized baby is ready for another swing at a live headlining tour in the autumn, starting with Gateshead on 1st November 2012, followed by Cambridge, Leeds, Coventry, London's Roundhouse and finally Brighton on the 6th. We will have tickets available from Wednesday 25th April at 9am. Prices start at £19.50.

Spiritualized are also one of the headliners (along with New Order and Primal Scream) at the inaugural Festival No.6 at Portmerion in September. You can also catch the band performing at this year's Wilderness and Bestival festivals - best not stand too near the speakers (speaking from experience!).
