Joe Brooks announces September 2012 UK tour
Posted: 2nd April 2012
The Myspace sensation will be returning the UK with a series of September shows, tickets on sale Thursday 5th April
The day Joe Brooks was born, on 18th May 1987, no one will have had any concept of what a Myspace account would be, nor that a child born that very day would grow up to become one of this 'new' platform's finest success stories.
When just 17, Joe Brooks set up his Myspace page at a time when the internet was proving to be a reliable incubator for new musical talent and bands like the Arctic Monkeys were finding Myspace and sites like it to be a great form of publicity; the new word-of-mouth. Brooks released his first EP, Maybe Tomorrow, in March 2006. He sold the record through a website set up for the purpose and through his Myspace pages. Ultimately, in 2008, he would be declared the 'UK's No 1 unsigned artist' on the site and register more than 11 million song plays. He didn't remain unsigned for long.
Joe Brooks also journeyed to America to conduct a self-arranged tour of California. It was a success and has helped the now 24-year-old to a career which he continues to split between the UK and the US; in fact he's in America now on a sold-out tour and is set to tour here later in the year.
Joe Brooks kicks off his autumn 2012 UK tour at The Cockpit in Leeds on 19th September, followed by gigs in Manchester, London (Islington Academy), Nottingham, Bristol and Birmingham, before the last date at The Cellar in Southampton on Wednesday 26th September; seven shows in eight days.
We will have tickets available from 9am on Thursday 5th April 2012, priced £12.50 for Islington and £12.50 for all other venues. Following a recent sold-out US tour, ticket sales are expected to be brisk.
