The long-established Leeds venue closed its doors in March 2012, but as of May 2012, it's back!
The Acacia Strain

Long-established rock/ hardcore venue The Well (formerly Joseph's Well) has announced its intention to close its doors for good tomorrow night. In a statement on the official website (www.thewellleeds.com), the management posted this message:

Hi all, with deepest regret, we as a team are going to be pulling out of The Well music venue after March 10th. We've loved helping rebuild this once great venue's reputation back up these past few years, and would like to thank all who mucked in.

Adding:

Our team has always been about the music, we understand how the closure of our venue will affect the metal/hardcore/punk scene in Leeds. We ask you to continue supporting independent live music venues in our great city like The Brudenell Social Club, The Cockpit, Royal Park Cellars & Empire. We are in the process of moving all our gigs to different venues right now and I can announce More Than Life has been moved to The Cockpit. The rest will be confirmed by at the very latest the end of next week. If you have a ticket to a gig at The Well, please bare with us and check our website for up to date information on gig movements.

Tomorrow night's Acacia Strain/ Brutality Will Prevail/ TRC gig will be the last at the venue and is now sold out, but one last party will be held after the gig and it's a freebie. If you're local to the venue and have ever visited (or even if not), why not head down and show your support?

Regarding the rescheduled dates: as mentioned in the statement, many of the dates have now been moved, with the lion's share going to The Cockpit, but the Chris Helme and Discharge dates appear to have been cancelled.

All is Well, again...

As of May 2012, The Well is back and in business, with an already-busy music schedule and a brand new website: www.thewellleeds.co.uk
