It was a decade after lead vocalist Dougy Mandagi first met Jonathon Aherne before The Temper Trap had the whole world humming along unconvincingly to their global hit Sweet Disposition, but it was surely worth the wait.

In fact, The Temper Trap didn't begin in earnest until 2005 when a chance meeting with Toby Dundas led the threesome into some early sessions as a band. Lorenzo Sillitto soon joined on lead guitar before Joseph Greer signed up as a touring member in 2008. Just in time for Greer, as The Temper Trap were about to go global.

Sweet Disposition, the lead single from the debut album Conditions, was released in late 2008 and spent the next year burning itself into indie playlists all around the world. By the time it landed in the UK in the autumn of 2009, it seemed all of Indieland was talking about this track that had a counter tenor vocal few could sing along to. It mattered not and Sweet Disposition reached the Top Ten in the UK, as it did on the Billboard Alternative chart in the US.

After the success of Conditions and its singles, The Temper Trap are finally set to release a follow-up. The self-titled sophomore will be released in May and the Aussie five-piece will be bringing the new material here around the same time.

The May jaunt kicks off at the Princess Pavilions in Falmouth on the 9th, followed by shows in Portsmouth, Cardiff, Glasgow and more, before closing the tour with two dates at KOKO in London on 21st and 22nd May.

We will have tickets available when they go on sale at 9am on Friday 9th March, priced £16.50 for the London gigs and £14.50 for all other dates.

Dougy and co will also be appearing in Ireland this summer with a slot at Phoenix Park in Dublin supporting Snow Patrol and Florence and the Machine on Sunday 8th July. We have tickets available now, priced €59.50.
